Mastic Asphalt
The traditional material has stood the test of time and is used for:
Roofing:
Roofing specifications include cold roof, warm roof or inverted warm roof situations. Traditional BS grades or polymer modified grades are available. The latter is capable of retaining its flexibility at low operating temperatures whilst keeping its integrity at higher temperatures.
Paving:
This durable material provides excellent protection to roofing grade mastic asphalt in rooftop car parks, podia and waterproofed landscape situations. It can also be used on its own for ground level pavements or as a flooring material in unheated buildings such as sports halls.
Flooring:
Mastic Asphalt flooring is available in four grades and is laid in various thicknesses to accommodate virtually any situation in heated buildings. As an exposed finish, it provides a hard wearing easily cleaned and cost effective specification.
Tanking:
Tanking to basements is carried out either internally or externally. The method of tanking will depend on building techniques used. Internal tanking would always be used in existing buildings. Tanking must last for the life of the building, a point worth considering when comparing mastic asphalt with other proprietary systems.
