Cobsen-Davies takes pride in calling Bauder green roofs one of its top five suppliers/partners. With innovative new systems and materials in green roofs Cobsen-Davies has used Bauder on many of its jobs. Projects over 1000 square metres include: West Sussex County Council, the TA Centre (Horsham), work for the MOD at Fort Monkton and the PEH Hospital (Guernsey). The work at Hogshill Crawley for Denne Construction was around 11,000 square metres, giving a twenty year guarantee. We have carried out contracts involving the whole range of Bauder systems:
Extensive System: This is a lightweight system that uses self sufficient plants that are wind, drought and frost resistant.
Simple intensive System: Uses low maintenance grasses such as shrubs, flowers and herbs.
Biodiversity systems: Can form part of a biodiversity action plan for many local authorities, which is designed to replace the natural habitat of local wildlife.
Intensive: Mainly used for recreational use such as roof gardens, flowerbeds, lawns, shrubs, patios and paths. Why we use Bauder greens roof products:
As part of our aim to use environmentally friendly materials our franchises at LONDON, SUSSEX/KENT, HAMPSHIRE and MANCHESTER use Bauder. Using this material has the following benefits:
- Conserves and controls the water run off, the thinnest extensive green roof system can absorb up to 40 percent of the average rainfall, the remaining 60 percent will drain off at a much slower rate than a usual roof. Up to 90 percent of the average rainfall can be absorbed when deeper soil is used on the intensive systems
- The buildings are landscaped and thus the heat island effect is reduced
- Many micro habitats are created be using this system and so the biodiversity of wildlife in towns and cities can be rejuvenated, this helps to better balance natural elements, improving the environment
- Can help to aid planning consent especially if local governments can meet sustained environmental policies
- Can reduce construction costs, as the material used eliminates the need for screed, this lack of screed reduces the overall weight and lowers costs providing additional savings.
- The buildings running costs are reduced as the materials used improve the thermal insulation of the building, primarily reducing the heating costs.
- Noise reduction qualities are excellent and can be very effective for buildings close to airports or industrial developments.
